Acceptable Use Policy
The rules that keep every Lekamail letter welcome: no spam, scams, malware or harassment, fair sending limits, and how we handle abuse reports and appeals.
Why this policy exists
Mail from @lekamail.com reaches inboxes because other providers trust it. One person sending spam or scams can damage that trust for everyone. This policy sets out what is not allowed on Lekamail and what we do about it.
It forms part of our Terms of Service and applies to every account, every plan and every custom domain used with Lekamail.
No spam
Don’t send unsolicited bulk or commercial mail, buy or rent mailing lists, or send marketing to people who haven’t asked for it.
Lekamail is not a newsletter or marketing platform. If you need to send to large lists, please use a dedicated service that manages consent and unsubscribes.
Follow anti-spam laws such as the CAN-SPAM Act, Canada’s CASL and the EU ePrivacy rules whenever they apply to what you send.
No scams, phishing or impersonation
Don’t use Lekamail to deceive people: no phishing, fake invoices, advance-fee schemes, fake prize notices or requests for passwords or payment details under false pretences.
Don’t impersonate another person, company or organisation, or forge message headers, sender names or addresses.
No malware or attacks
Don’t send viruses, ransomware, spyware or any other harmful code, or links designed to deliver it.
Don’t probe, scan or test the security of Lekamail or other systems without permission, overload our servers, or try to get into accounts that aren’t yours. If you have found a security issue, please report it responsibly to abuse@lekamail.com.
Be kind to people
Don’t harass, threaten, stalk, bully or intimidate anyone, or encourage others to.
Don’t send hateful content that attacks people for who they are, share private information about someone without their permission, or share intimate images without consent.
Postcards, voice letters and time capsules follow the same rules. A capsule is not a way to deliver a threat in the future.
Illegal and harmful content
Don’t use Lekamail for anything unlawful, including infringing copyright or trademarks, trading illegal goods, or promoting violence or terrorism.
We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse material. We close the account immediately and report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and the relevant authorities.
Fair sending limits
To keep mail trusted, each account can send to up to 500 recipients a day, and up to 100 recipients in a single message. New accounts start with lower limits for their first few days.
Postcard accounts can send ten postcards a month; Letter and Parcel accounts can send as many as they like, within the daily recipient limit.
Please don’t try to get around these limits, for example by using several accounts or automated sending. If you have a genuine need for higher limits, write to hello@lekamail.com.
Custom domains and family plans
If you use your own domain with Lekamail, you must own it or be authorised to use it, and you are responsible for the addresses you create on it.
On Parcel, the plan owner is responsible for making sure everyone in the family follows this policy. One member’s breach won’t close the whole family plan unless the owner was involved.
Reporting abuse
If you receive spam, a scam or abusive mail from a Lekamail address, forward it with full headers to abuse@lekamail.com. We review every report, usually within one working day.
For copyright complaints, see the Copyright complaints section of our Terms of Service. If someone is in immediate danger, please contact your local emergency services first.
What we do about it
Depending on how serious it is, we may warn you, remove content, lower your sending limits, pause sending, suspend your account, or close it. For serious harm, such as phishing, malware or child abuse material, we act immediately.
We use automated filters and sending-pattern signals to catch spam and malware. We don’t read your letters to enforce this policy unless a specific report or security alert requires us to look at a particular message.
Unless the law or a safety risk prevents it, we will tell you what happened and why, and give you the chance to export your mail.
Appeals
If you think we got it wrong, reply to our notice or write to abuse@lekamail.com within 30 days. A different member of our team will review the decision and reply within 7 days.
If we find we made a mistake, we will restore your account and your sending limits straight away, and extend any paid plan by the time you lost.
